What is copyright?

"Copyright is the exclusive right of the creator of a literary, scientific or artistic work, or of his heirs, to publish and reproduce it, subject to the limitations imposed by law." This is stated in Article 1 of the Copyright Act. This means that only the creator may publish and reproduce works of art created by him. Others must seek permission from the creator if they wish to use his work.
